GMS...tuning in to ALED on GOOD MORNING SUNDAY

Aled presents his wonderful radio programme, Good Morning Sunday, each week from 7:00am - 9:00 am GMT. Good Morning Sunday, (GMS) on BBC Radio 2, is an uplifting programme full of Aled's very chirpy, very entertaining repartee and his fascinating interviews with a broad range of interesting people, many of whom add their own spiritual inspiration to the show. You'll also enjoy some of the best music you'll ever hear, other than Aled's own brilliant albums of course!Wink

There is now a fabulous double CD collection of loads of the music that Aled and his producers play on the show, called "Aled Jones Presents Good Morning Sunday" available at music shops in the UK and online at various sites like Amazon, Play.com etc

If you miss hearing Aled 'live' on air at.....

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/goodmorningsun/

you can always tune in anytime during the week until his next week's show goes to air, by clicking on the "Listen Again" facility on that same page.

Excellent programme as always today and great music.Really liked the Karine Polwart track 'Rivers Run' @ (15 mins). I discovered her music through GMS . The Sunday Spotlight artist Dawn Landes was good - Will check out her music.

Aleds interview with Steve Balsamo @1hr 25 mins was absolutely delightful and throughly enjoyed. Excellent Radio - Cheers Aled !  The Storys track from the new album 'Long Hard Road' was brilliant. One my favourite songs of 2007 was Steve's duet with Canadian singer-songwriter Tia McGraff. You can hear the song 'Second Chance ' on her myspace page - http://www.myspace.com/tiamcgraff . See what you think to it ?

If you happen to be in London tomorrow Mon March 31 you can see GMS artist Callaghan. Its a 1.1/2 hour set and its FREE and takes place in the very pleasant surroundings in the foyer at The Royal National Theatre on the South Bank. Thanks to GMS Callaghan had her first National Radio spot as a solo artist on 24th Feb when Aled played her song 'Love Me For A While' from her EP just before Rabbi Pete Tobias' Moment of Relection. Last year on May 7th she was heard as the lead singer in the band of the same name when GMS Spotlighted them, playing the song 'Road To Elmersville'. Check out her website- http://www.myspace.com/callaghanspage

Hello Dogfood,Thanks for your message, you want to know How long I have been a follower of Aled?since 1985....I first heard and saw him over Easter on the programme,Voices from the Holy land,I was reduced to floods of tears,as my mother had died in the february that year, and my thoughts were that she would have loved him......and what a pity that she didnt live to hear him......but I have made up for it since,as Aled for me is not just a wonderful singer, but a great warm sincere person, which I am sure that you have found out for yourself.....carry on supporting and listening ,watching him,he wont let you down......keep in touch,Love to all,Rosina....

Rosina I agree that Aled is such a warm sincere person. Unlike many other 'celebrities'.

Good Morning Sunday is always a good listen in my head. Unfortunately if I miss the show I can't listen again because it just seems to crash all the time. Oh well gives me a reason to get up an hour early for church.

     Hope everyone is well.

Re: Tuning in to Aled on Good Morning Sunday

    Hi everyone

Excited after todays Show 6th April. I'd sent in some music to the show recently and 2 tracks were played today. Many Thanks GMS ! :) Both these artists have never been played on the last remaining Radio 2 Country Show and in Susie's instance never on UK National Radio before. Thanks to Aled and the GMS team she has now! :)

    1) Susie Luchsinger was the Sunday Spotlight . Track played was 'Love Of God' from her 1993 album REAL LOVE. The information is now in place of the GMS website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/goodmorningsun/ontheshow.shtml On the Listen Again ..pick up from 1 hour 15 minutes into the show. The Sunday Spotlight feature started at 01:17:00 . Aled kindly mentioned my name and especially nice to hear him say " We think Susie has a terrific voice and look forward to including more of her gospel inspired music in the future " ...Susie is the sister of Country Megastar Reba McEntire.

I have recently bought Susie's last album 'Count It All Joy' and I'm absolutely loving it. Always, Always’ – This is stunning love the words!..There’s Still Hope – Such a powerful message ...‘The Bridge’ – This is simply wonderful, Susie’s voice is devine IMHO . You can sample all Susie's music and see the lyrics etc from her website - http://www.susieluchsinger.com/ . She also has a myspace page http://www.myspace.com/susieluchsinger

     2) Billy Dean's 'Voices Singing' from CD REAL MAN was played before the 7:30 news site - http://www.billydean.com/ .. Its a very special album to me I hope you like it?

I've been a fan for many years of Billy and love the clarity and phrasing of his vocal . As well as his own music he has dueted with many female artists. What I love about this album is Billys collaboration with David Gates ( Bread ) as a co-writer and producer. With REAL MAN , Billy Dean has found his way. "I approached this -album as if it were the last album I would ever make. I wanted to deliver the best that I can do, and I feel I did that here. No matter what happens with it commercially, I know I can live with this album. I'm proud of this album"

Some fact abouts Billy -Best New Male Vocalist and Song of the Year awards, both Academy of Country Music, both 1992.Grammy Award Nomination, best male performance--country, 1992, for "Somewhere in My Broken Heart".CMA AWARDS - Nominated 1992 - Horizon Award CMA AWARDS.He also won two CMA Awards for his participation in Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles.Movie Acting Roles: Blue Valley Songbird ( Starring Dolly Parton ) .Billy and Alison Krauss sang backup on Kenny Rogers 2000 single ‘Buy Me A Rose.

Have you ever heard of Billy or Susie ? I hope you like them? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts please?

    Hi Andy,

It was great to hear your name mentioned by Aled on GMS this morning with your alert about Susie Luchsinger. I admit I haven't heard of her or Billy Dean before, but Aled is always open to hearing new talent and was obviously impressed by her voice to have featured her on his Sunday Spotlight today. Well done to your championing the music of new and interesting singers. I'm sure fans' enthusiasm in promoting singers must give valuable boosts to their careers.

Just out of curiosity though, do you equally share the joy of Aled's brilliant voice and his music on the websites of those you bring us here? I find it very surprising for instance that when telling people about Aled's stunning baritone voice and his beautiful albums, that I still encounter people who still think of him only as a choirboy, so it's an exciting and important ambassadorial role we all have to enlighten as many people as we can to his wonderful adult career and the gift of his superb voice.

Hi Susie, Thanks for that. Yes thats what I love about the show regarding being open to new talent and new names. Since Aled took over the helm he has been keen to promote and embrace a lot of new music with much enthusiasm which helps so much to raise an artists profile. On other message boards elsewhere I have alerted fans to music played on his show. As far as I'm concerned its become the best programme on BBC Radio 2. So I have shared my joy in terms of Aleds excellent Radio presentation rather than his music to date. Gretchen Peters flagged up about 'Reason to Believe' Thanks to this site I'm now becoming aware of Aled as an artist in his own right. 'You Raise Me Up' was indeed a superb opening track on the GMS album. I plan to get the 'Reason to Believe' album shortly and was having a quick look at 2 other albums in the shops yesterday. On the NEW HORIZONS album I spotted some of my favourite songs 'O Waly Waly' ( Eva Cassidy version simply incredible) ,  'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring'  and am keen to hear Aleds take of Places (Out of Africa Theme).

Susie can you please enlighten me - Has Aled released an album that has new original songs on it rather than covers? I would imagine Aled is always on the look out for songs that would suit his vocal style?

'No Frontiers' which I associate with Mary Black makes me think of her favourite songwriter the late Noel Brazil. I wonder if Aled has a writer he looks too to provide new material?

As a lover of Country Music I have become aware of the most amazing talent in terms of the Nashville/ Austin songwriters behind such great songs. Ronan Keating being someone who has picked up on this. Songs such as 'When You Say Nothing at All' , 'I Love The Way You Love Me' , 'I Swear' , I Hope You Dance' and 'Tomorrow Never Comes' being all original Country songs adopted to his style some of which have become #1 Hits. Songs such as this are the fuel which provide the artists with the hits they crave for?  Its a 2 way street of course, as a songwriter is always hoping a Big Name artist will cut a song they are pitching too.

Going back to show its April and Spring has arrived here in the Uk?? As Hummingbirds 'Life Your Life Laughing' was playing the snow was coming down heavily outside!..Where I live in Poole it has the second biggest natural harbour in the world next to Sydney.

Re: Tuning in to Aled on Good Morning Sunday

Sounds like I missed a great show! I only heard up until about 07.25 in the car on the way to work. I was on an Early shift today. I thoroughly enjoyed singing along loudly to 'Any Dream Will Do' as I whizzed along to work - and texted the show when I got there to say it had made me ready for anything at work now. Unfortunately it was just as well as we found one of the patients had passed away unexpectedly during staff handover. Not the best of starts to a shift! Quite a shock. Having to wake a family at 08.30 on a Sunday morning with that news is really not a nice part of my job. Sad

Hello, Aled has just said on GMS that he and Terry Wogan will be recording a duet together. As yet he's teasing us by not saying when and what!

'Little Drummer Boy' isn't it for Children In Need Appeal ? With Terry Wogan chucking polo mints at him while Aled plays the drums???!!!

Can't quite make my mind up yet about this weeks Sunday Spotlight Sarabeth Tucek. Will have another listen. Nice to have the introduction.

Hope everyone like the Victoria Shaw feature last week? What did you think ?Oh to be in Nashville last night she was playing the Bluebird Cafe with another amazing talented writer and friend Gary Burr.

I thought the hymn 'The Lord’s My Shepherd' by  Joanne Hogg from a Worship CD was truly exquiste last week really touched me.

    Hi Andy,

I wasnt to keen on the Sarabeth Tucek track to be honest, the continual "Twanging" of that guitar put me right off it, it sounded as if it was being played by someone who had just learnt to play the guitar, very amateurish..
