Interviews:
Bevan and Russell Davis
Bevan and Russell Davis married knowing that Bevan's infertility
meant they would never have children. Although they'd both accepted
this nothing prepared them for the true reality of childlessness.
Soon after their marriage Bevan became depressed and part of that was
due to the grief she experienced at the reality of not being able to
have children. The depression lasted five or six years and had a
profound affect on their marriage. Eventually Bevan became fertile
but after a year of trying for a baby Russell was diagnosed as being
completely infertile. The couple talk about their anger with God and
their pain at having to deal with this second blow. Also how they
experienced the love of God through their Christian community. 14
months ago quite, out of the blue, Bevan became pregnant and their
son Ewan was born 5 months ago. Medically it was a one in a billion
chance and they are thankful to God for this miracle.
Sally Magnusson travels to Cape Town to meet the world-famous Nobel
Peace Prize winner, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. He talks about
his early life and influences, his role in the struggle against
Apartheid and why, at the age of 76, he's working harder than ever
for peace and reconciliation across the world. The music, chosen by
the Archbishop and performed by some of South Africa's finest choirs
and the Adventist Vocal Ensemble includes Great is thy faithfulness,
We are marching in the light of God, Just as I am, Khumbaya, and My
song is love unknown.

Chester Cathedral
www.chestercathedral.com
One of the most popular places to visit in the North West, the
Cathedral attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
With records of a church on this site since the early tenth century,
it was founded as a Benedictine Monastery dedicated to St Werburgh in
1092. In 1541, following the dissolution of the monasteries, it was
rededicated as the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin
Mary in Chester, the mother church of the Church of England Diocese
of Chester.
This site has been a place of worship for over one thousand years,
standing as a living and vibrant symbol of Christianity in the North
West of England.
Throughout all of this time its ministry has continued without
interruption through periods of adversity such as the Dissolution of
the Monasteries, the English Civil War and the two world wars.
Today the Cathedral aims to continue, and expand, the vital work
which is embodied in their statement of mission:

DESMOND TUTU PEACE CENTER
Desmond Tutu - - Peace Foundation
www.tutu.org
During apartheid, Desmond Tutu kept hope alive in the hearts and
minds of millions of South Africans. He shared his powerful vision
that justice would come, freedom was unstoppable and one-day all
South Africans would be free.
The Desmond Tutu Peace Centre will be a landmark institution
primarily aimed at using the experience of the South African people
and the example of Desmond Tutu to inspire a new generation of
visionary peace builders. Its focus is to teach the extraordinary
principles - practiced by ordinary people - that were able to guide
South Africa from a legacy of violence to a cooperative peace.
The objective is not to memorialize one of South Africa's most famous
sons, but to convert his unique leadership into the kinds of
practices, approaches and tools that any individual can use to
improve society through his or her own personal contribution.
".. I have given my name to an institution that will foster vision,
understanding and the building of bridges.."
Desmond Tutu
THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION (TRC)
www.doj.gov.za/trc
The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was set
up by the Government of National Unity to help deal with what
happened under apartheid. The conflict during this period resulted in
violence and human rights abuses from all sides. No section of
society escaped these abuses.?
The TRC is based on the Promotion of National Unity and
Reconciliation Act, No 34 of 1995.
"... a commission is a necessary exercise to enable South Africans to
come to terms with their past on a morally accepted basis and to
advance the cause of reconciliation."
Mr Dullah Omar, former Minister of Justice
