ADDING A PHOTO TO YOUR PROFILE

To add a photo of your choice to your profile, which will appear below your user name on the side of all your posts...

Click on Edit Profile beside your name at the top of the Homepage....

Click on Avatar...

Click the spot that says Enable Avatar...

Download one of your photos from your personal photo files stored on your computer...

Click on Save.

The photo may take at least 10 minutes to appear on the Forum, so please be patient.

CHANGING THE COLOUR OF YOUR TEXT

To select your own colour of your text with each post...

1.Wait several moments until the text options menu appears at the top of your posting window...

2.Type your post...

3.Highlight your text after you have finished typing...

4.Left click on the paint pallet in the options...

5.Click on the colour you want....(this text printed here is in the colour I have labelled as No 2 in the "Colour Testing" thread, coded as #99ffff, being the 6th square from the left on the bottom row of the pallet)

6.Check the readability of your text by clicking on "Preview" located on the tab at the very top of your posting window....

7.Edit if necessary by clicking on "Compose" on the top tab area again. (you may need to temporarily alter the colour to black to be able to read it, as well as doing your editing, then re-edit to the new colour of your choice when you're happy with the readability of your text)...

7.Click on Post.

CHANGING THE COLOUR OF YOUR TEXT

Hi Bev, how very strange that you did have it and now it's gone! Are you giving the tool bar plenty of time to load? It can take quite a while sometimes, depending on what your individual signal strength is like each time you're online. Mine, as I signed in just now was listed as 'excellent' and it only took about 25 seconds for the tool bar to load into the posting window, but if my signal strength is weaker, it can take considerably longer to load.

Assuming you still have a tool bar visible, do you have all the other icons still there in that tool bar...ie, font styles, text size, background colour (HEY, I just found that!! YAY!! ) cut, copy, paste, Word, spell check, Bold, Italics, Underline etc?? If they're all still present, I'd have thought the text colour selector should be there too. Mine is positioned between the 'text size scroll-down window' and the 'background colour' which is beside my 'cut' icon.

Let me know how you go with waiting longer with your loading to see if that's the problem. Failing that option, I'll check with the experts at Admin and see what we can sort out for you.

I'm not sure why I have some icons that you and Bev don't. Might have something to do with the programmes our computers run on, but you'd think it'd be standard for everyone on the one site, wouldn't you?

Maybe someone more technically-minded might have the answer to that one?

"SMALL FONT" ISSUES 

Good news!! For those of us who are having difficulties with the very small font, we are able to individually tailor the font size to suit ourselves. There is a range of sizes from "Normal", which is the standard size you are now seeing, through to "Large" and then to "Largest".

Go to the Homepage...

Click on Edit Profile beside your name...

Click on Site Options...

In Font Size, scroll to your personal choice....I suggest using "Largest"....

Click on SAVE at the bottom of that page, below Date Format  (which, incidentally, I changed my own to Day/ Month/ Year)

TEXT OPTIONS AND TEXT COLOUR OPTIONS

I've quizzed my son who is far more technically-minded than me and his advice about your missing options on you tool bar is...

Go into your computer's ''User Control Panel''

Set your text editing options to "Advanced" ...(there are probably the options of either "Basic" and "Advanced", or  "Simplified Standard" and "Advanced".

Choose "Advanced".

Hopefully that will give you all the text and colour options you're currently lacking. Don't hesitate to ask again if that doesn't work of course!

I just altered something to advanced (display). (but no difference here) Couldn't find anything for text options. Do you mean click on My computer on my desktop - go to control panel ... that's what I did, but didn't find a text options choice. Sorry to be a pain.

I have nothing  like that either Leri, not on My Computer or on Internet Options .

 Are you by any chance using a Mac Susie ?

 It is a real nuisance for some of us to have different settings !

 Also the fact that when I want to reply  , the whole page is white with  a black background and the pink is totally unreadable when the previous post is displayed .

Hi Everyone,

                     Sorry Ive not added anything to this topic up to now, but like you, Ive been trying to find my way around this new site too.. I think the quickest way around this problem with the test colours is to carry out the following..

First of all click on "Edit Profile" and then click on the tag which says "Site Options". If you look at I believe the third item down, it says "Content Editor", if you click on that a menu appears, click on "Enhanced" and then click on "Save".

You might have to leave it a few minutes to activate, but when you are ready, and wish to reply to a message, click on reply or compose a new message options, and you should now see you are able to not only change the font style and size, but you should also find the "Select Text Colour" palete and next to that the "Select Background Colour" palete too. First of all select the "Background Colour" to Black, then choose your "Text Colour", in this instance Im using White which is at the bottom right of the colour palete and is marked #ffffff. Then as you type your message, the background will appear in black and the text in white.. I think that you must make the background colour black to start with, otherwise you may not be able to "see" what you are writing. This way it will also automatically tell you if your text is going to show up ok when its posted..

Ok - I can do text but not background! Hmmm - it's there - but not working. Hmmmmmm. Will keep fiddling!
