    Hi Susie,

The show was excellent, Aled gave a very professional performance, his voice was strong and carried well considering we were  in a marquee. The spiritual choice of songs complemented the London Community Gospel Choir who gave a rousing performance too. Highly recommended venue,  Aled signed my paper wrist band ( we all got one to enter the show).

A brilliant evening rounded off by our following his Land Rover as he  exited the show ground.

    Hi Liz,

Many, many thanks for your wonderful report! I've been keenly awaiting news on the concert, and I'm delighted Aled was in such great form and you had a fabulous evening. Rather a bonus to follow him out of the gates of the showground too! Big Smile

Re: Grassington Festival 25 June 2008 -- (Discussions, meeting arrangements etc for the Grassington Festival are welcomed here).

    Hello Lesley,

Aled opened with the most lovely duet (with his younger self ) , Walking in the Air. He then  sang The Rose  and If, He then sang two Welsh songs, one I recall he dedicated to a girl in the audience who was  celebrating her 15th Birthday, I think it was called , Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, which reminds me I really should learn welsh I may be able to make sense of the lyrics !!!

He opened the second half with the London Gospel Choir, and a very  lively version of Amazing Grace had everyone entering into the spirit of the night.

He sang You Raise Me Up and finished with Whenever God Shines His Light . His musical accompaniment team was superb, a pianist and guitarist, as well as the LGC.

I do think the size limited the no of members who could come for the LGC and I can quite imagine the power even more voices would have had  had there been room in the marquee for them all!!!

Well I suppose I've missed a few songs off his evening's repertoire but all in all a very good evening , I say lucky Australia when he visits them in October.

    Best Wishes

    from Liz

That's the Welsh National Anthem,"Land of My Fathers".

I'm intrigued by your name "Chevin"  Are you an angler as it's the old local name for a chub?

  • We're all extremely excited here in Oz to be about to welcome Aled back for his fourth visit....this one will make it his third concert tour here. He was fabulous on the previous two tours, and his voice is amazing on his CDs, but there's nothing quite like hearing him live on stage...he has a special quality in his voice when he sings Iive, that I'm sure you would have enjoyed at Grassington!Big Smile

Thanks again Liz for your great report!! Smile We always appreciate hearing about all of Aled's concerts, especially the ones we can't make it to.

    Hello Peggy,

    Thank you for your e-mail.

The song Mae Hen....when Aled sang it was n't to the tune Land of my Father's he may have used a different tune with the lyrics ???

Chevin comes from the name of the large jutting outcrop of millstone grit which broke off millions of years ago to form Wharfedale a beauty spot above Otley where I live. The stone which remained forms the Cow and Calf rocks which are a few miles away on the Ilkley Moor.

I prefer your derivation of the name.

Incidently, I have recently carried out research into my family tree, the Pryde name appears to originate in Wales . I wonder if there are any Prydes  or Prids OR SIMILAR derivations of relatives still living there ??

Also, the family crest supports three silver lamphreys hauriant (three fishes swimming upwardly) on a sable background.

    With best wishes,

     LIZ
