    Absolutely amazing!

Aled was on top form tonight and sounding simply stunning vocally. As the concert was with the Cathedral choir they sang at the start of each half and then joined Aled on the last song of each half. They sounded great as usual and did some lovely acapella songs which of course were even more beautiful with the cathedral acoustics.

Aled sang four songs in each half and then after rapturous applause came back and gave us a choice of two songs for the encore! A slow welsh one or a fast english one. The general consensus was for the fast english one so we had a premiere airing of Whenever God Shines His Light (they'd never performed it with piano and guitar before and we found out later that Dom had only arranged it at about 1am this morning!) but then Aled said he felt bad for the Welsh there tonight so he did his acapella BGG to finish. He talked about things like Chitty in between songs too but the audience were a little hard work to get going (apart from us forummers!)

The HH collection seemed to go very well with people putting in notes but I don't know what the final total was. Leri, Ceri, Lesley and myself had tickets for the reception afterwards too which was great and while waiting for Aled to work his way around everyone we had chance to have a good chat to Dom and Paul which was great fun. We were also approached by a man called Steve Falconer who lost his son 3 years ago I think it was and had relied on HH almost since it opened. He wanted to thank us personally for being there collecting and for all the other fundraising AFHH has done so that was a beautiful bonus.

Aled was as friendly as always and was really pleased to see us there so all in all a fab night was had. It was great to see Aled and all the other forummers again and roll on Chitty in the summer Smile

This was my first Aled concert and I'm certain it wont be my last!

What a wonderful setting, with a wonderful choir and the man himself. Front row doesn't get any better than that!

Looking forward to keeping in touch.

Welcome to the forum Jo Smile

Glad you found us here after Aled messing up giving the website address! I was one of the 'glamorous ladies with red buckets' on the front row too although not quite as glamorous as the others in their dresses. It certainly was a fab concert and I'm sure tonight will be just as good for the people going.

A very warm welcome to you Jo...it's great to have you with us!  Big Smile So thrilled you enjoyed our amazing Welshman last night....he's brilliant, isn't he?!

Our latest Forum here is still in its infancy after our previous one became the target of a swarm of spammers, so the site is still rebuilding, but please feel very welcome to be here as often as you can and discover loads more about Aled.

It really was fab Ann - I think the highlight songwise for me was If because it was just Aled and the guitar and the acoustics of the cathedral just enhanced everything. Whenever God Shines His Light came a very close second though.

There was a good forum mention before YRMU in the second half and Aled called us 'the salt of the earth' and was very complimentary about us as well as saying we were crazy which was great.

Hello Brina, I agree with you that they were the best songs. I think Aled got everyone's feet tapping with Whenever God Shines His Light & it might have been good if it had come earlier. I suppose it left the audience wanting more.!

I like to think Aled's mention of the Forum was the way people speak fondly of their Grandma etc Smile

    Hi everyone!

Well, yep - what a night! I agree with al you have all said about it! I was there on the wednesday! I had never heard Aled sing in a cathedral before and it was out of this world! Wow!!! Amazing accoustics and Aleds voice was so powerful and amazing!

I am not a huge fan of When God Shines His Light but when Aled sang it live it was fantastic and I shall never hear it in the same way again! Big Smile It was in my head for the rest of the night!  His voice is amazing!! The mix of songs he sang was excellent!

He was on great form Wednesday too, looking as gorgeous as ever and with his humour shining through! He announced he was going to come out with a leek on one jacket *** and a daffodil on the other then wished everone Happy St George's day - having asked if there were any welsh in the audience! Big Smile  Then later he made reference to Wales beating england at rugby then said Happy St George's day again! lol

It was really great to see those of you who were there! And thanks for the lift back 'Leri!!!!!! You're a star!!!

So when can we see Aled again next??? Party!!!

    WOW!!!!

What an amazing couple of nights I just had!!!  Just fabulous!

One thing - I just spoke to the guy in the box office & he thinks the dress code changed during the rescheduling of the concert  - although still don't understand why we were the only ones not aware it had changed from formal! Ah well! It added a bit of glamour to the proceedings I suppose!!!

The concert was amazing as Brina said. The second night 'Whenever God ...' was even better & he thanked the front row for joining in with the 'dur um dur um's' (? - u kno what I mean!!) and his compliments to the forum were just as warm & genuine. Saying he feels he has the best fans in the world, which was really lovely - bless him!

The collection seemed to go very well Weds too, managed to leg it to that back door we missed on Tuesday Ceri & collected a full to busting tin (was wishing I had a bucket)

Fabulous to meet you Lesley, Ur great!! Was fun at the reception chatting to Dom & Paul, and then Aled, of course. And really lovely of Steve Faulkner, the dad of the little girls in the HH photos, to come over and introduce himself & thank us personally, that was  very touching.

Was a little less giggly on the second night as I was driving, but still had a lovely night. And was great to meet Pat Proctor too, who was really lovely (I didn't see you in the reception afterwards though Pat) & to chat to Netty & Brian & Debbie & her mum. And of course brilliant to have an excuse to meet up with good friends Kar, Ally, Sara, Wendy & Ceri (Sara - I shouldn't need an excuse I kno when u live so close!!)

Thought since I'd got dressed up I'd get my traditional photo! Lol. (Thanks Sara. x )

    Love Leri x
